xp not load vista boot menu

XP will not load from Vista boot menu

I installed Vista b2 (public) from XP as an upgrade. I need to get back into XP and can't -- when I highlight "Earlier Version of Windows" and hit enter at startup, the screen just goes black and nothing happens. Any suggestions?

If you did an upgrade to XP then the only OS you have is Vista regardless of the entry on the boot options screen. Only if you installed Vista to a new partition would XP still be intact.
